A subset of my Very Favorite Time Of Year is when Daphne moves out into the open. This is her third year on this exact branch. I get that she would rather not be this visible — and it will get less visible as the leaves come in — but I’ll take this viewing time. I’m going to sit outside and work as much as I can while she’s glaring down at me. I haven’t located Simon this morning, although from the collection of outraged rodent noises I have an informed guess of where he might be. Daphne herself is fighting off a pair of pissed-off chickadees. Daytime owling is hard work!
